Art Grows Rexburg (AGR) is a non-profit arts organization, and is the brainchild of Alice and Val Hemming, Founders of the Hemming Family Foundation. In 2013 a partnership was struck with the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce and the Upper Valley Art Guild to incorporate an art competition and exhibit as part of Rexburg’s annual Summerfest. The vision of the partnership was to showcase talented artists residing in the Snake River Valley.
Underpinning the art show is the idea that art enriches the cultural life of any community, and that visual artists need public venues to display their work. Since its inception, the contests have seen hundreds of artwork entries submitted by local artists, young and old with varying degrees of talents and interests.
Each year, AGR events kick off with a Children’s Free Summer Art Camp, where children can be introduced to new art forms and media to explore and create art. Art competitions follow for both youth and adults, and their varied creations are proudly exhibited throughout the summer in the foyer and upper hallway of Hemming Village in Rexburg.
